The meaning of Vanuatu is "land arising from the sea".

Located more than 1.000 nautical miles east of Australia, Vanuatu is one of the last unspoiled and unknown paradises on earth.

More than 80 islands all of them of volcanic origin but different from one another. Mountain isles, over 1800 mt. high, take turns with coral atolls with white sandy beaches.

The main islands are Efatè, Espiritu Santo and Tanna.

Efatè is the core of Vanuatu, with its capital city Port Vila, a nice colonial style town built around a bay and expanding over the surrounding hills. It has a dimly French atmosphere but it's at the same time pleasantly decadent.
The island is teeming with business, being the centre of tourism and trade.

Espiritu Santo boasts a thick jungle, extraordinary caves, white sandy beaches and the most impressive shipwreck in the world, very similar to Titanic for its elegance.
There are many secluded inland villages with local people strongly keeping Vanuatu customs and ancient tradition.

Tanna, is covered by unspoiled rainforests, flowers, plantations, waterfalls but its main feature is Mount Yasu, the most easily accessible active volcano in the world.
By a four-wheel drive you can get 150 meters from the crater, then climb along a path to the edge and and look at a volcano in full activity.

Vanuatu sea is one of the most beautiful in the world and ultimate if you enjoy diving and snorkeling. You will be stunned by the coral reef, underwater volcanoes and lot of shipwrecks.

Relax lovers will enjoy wide sandy beaches, hidden among bays and headlands surrounded by palm trees.

You can also do beautiful excursions on foot, in the middle of the jungle, following easy or more challenging paths.

The best season for cruises is from May to October, the so-called "dry season": warm sunny days and cool nights.

And if you are still not fully convinced, then you should know that, in 2007, Vanuatu were honoured with the title of "the happiest country in the world".

Come and see how come!
