Mate - Gregory Williams
Greg comes from Sheffield, England, and sailed dinghies on a local reservoir growing up. Upon leaving school, he started yacht deliveries along the coast of Europe, eventually showing enough promise to be offered a place on a yachtmaster traineeship in the Caribbean.
Greg spent nine months learning his trade in the racing charter business, working with clients and competing in events such as the Caribbean 600, Antigua Sailing Week, Fastnet and Cowes Week. After passing his Yachtmaster Offshore in the UK, he sailed back to the Caribbean and spent a season working and racing before signing on for a delivery across the Pacific via Panama.
During the two years he spent in the Pacific, Greg spent a season cruising in Fiji, saw the 2021 America's Cup in Auckland, New Zealand and sailed back to Panama aboard a hundred year old topsail schooner, among other things.
With roughly 40,000 sailing miles to date, Greg is thoroughly competent and knowledgeable in all matters of sailing and serves as steward in addition to his duties as mate.
Sailing is his lifelong passion and he aspires to continue working on the water for the foreseeable future. His other hobbies include celestial navigation, racing and the history of sailing.
